First Job

I finally got placed in the night of 4th December. That is early morning 4.45 am of 5th december.

I was short listed at 11:00 pm of 4th dec. and I went to MB, had 2 interviews from 11:30 to 1:00 am. Then one more from 2:15 am to 3:00 am. I was confident that I would most likely be selected, but still there was some doubt in my mind. They told me I can go home. I came to my friend's room and slept there at 4:00 am. I got a call from placement cell telling me that I am selected by Adobe at 4:45 am. It's 12 lpa! That's one L per month! I was really happy! I called home and told abt this. They were happy.

Finally, thus ended my placements on the 4th day of December.

Now that exams are over, placements time has truly started. Need to revise all the concepts learnt in 3.5 years within, oh! 5 days! That too with BTP presentation on 28th so need to prepare presentation for the next 3 days! Two days preparation for placements. Really good!

Dosta na ?

Many told many stories about this movie. I happened to watch this movie. It's not what everyone thought about it to be. It's a fun based movie which shows how two people pretend to be "you know what" to get a home along with a woman. It shows how that results in irksome situations and how they both fell in love with the same girl etc.

But the main thing is, there is nothing much great about this movie. They only depicted how to laugh at others' feelings. There are people who are struggling in other places of the world to make these things acceptable to the society. We make a movie laughing at situations involving those conditions. Bulleted List

Indian v/s Hollywood movies

Why are Hollywood movies better than Indian movies? The answer is simple!

In Hollywood movies it is the director who plays important role in making the movie. Hence, he extracts all the talent inside his artists. He shows situations that are as realistic as possible.
Most of the Indian movies are Hero based ones. In every situation, it is the hero who is given importance. Hence, situations may not be natural, especially fights.
We cannot put the blame entirely on movie guys. It is the audience and media that is to be blamed mainly. If people want to see movies where there is hero centrism, only such movies are produced, after all, movie industry is also a free market, hence, the same rules apply there. Atleast media should try to educate people about the nature of movies because people on an average have average knowledge about anything and hence it may not be true.
About plagiarism: We now know that many movies and songs which are popular have their "inspirations" from other movies made in some western languages. How far is it justifiable to do that? Whenever we use others' work we need to pay some money for the copyright if we acknowledge that. So, why bother? As long as the work produced by us is not visible to them, it is OK. But, now due to increase in information exchange, this may not be possible. Consider "Hari Puttar". Now we know the sources of many movies and start questioning them about copying. They have to acknowledge, they have no choice. But, we should not be rude to them.
How many people would bother to see the english version of "Black" which was made in some 1930's ? But, by making it in India, many people were able to see it in their own language. Also, in earlier times, when making movies was not all that easy, they used to look for Hollywood because that is where many movies were made. Hence, it may not be completely wrong to take ideas from them.

So, what we finally want is to have movies which can take copyrights from originals. If that seems pretty costly, we can at least acknowledge that they are "inspired" before some one points out the same. Also, basic story line can be the same but at least sequence of actions etc. should change.

E=mc2

Finally, E=mc2 is proved to be correct in subatomic ranges!
French, German and Hungarian physicists collaborated to calculate the mass of protons in terms of mass of quarks etc. As mass of quarks account only for 5% of mass of protons, the remaining mass is accounted for by using this world's most famous equation, by associating it to the energy of the movements of quarks and gluons. A good proof for a great equation!

What a great idea it is to be formulated in 1905 when even protons etc. are not known. And it is valid till now for scales not even possibly conceived at that period. I always wished I were born in that period.

Jerry Seinfeld

One of a lot of good scenes in Jerry Seinfeld:
Jerry and Kramer go to a movie and sit with an empty seat in between as a buffer when some other guy who Jerry knows happens to be around them looking for seats.
Jerry : Hey Kramer, pretend that we are talking.
Kramer: But we are talking!
Jerry: Yeah, pretend that we are talking something important.
Kramer: So, I had to Kill that guy! and the police are still looking for me!
Jerry: Oh, yeah!

Trek to Mahuli

On Friday Aug 15th, our Independence Day, we decided to go for a trek, not that it has something to do with our Independence, but as we had that day as a holiday for our institute.
We went to Mahuli, which is some 4km from Asangaon, which is 40 min by train from Kalyan.

As usual, the previous night, slept for very little time (1 hour).
Reached there by 9.30 am.

It was a really beautiful place. The sceneries were really beautiful.

It also rained which frightened us a little but the overall experience was really good.

Hancock experience

I was really excited to see this movie, so I browsed through the net to find the nearest movie theater to be 4.5 mi away, and a show at 7.25 pm.
So, I started out from WPI at 6.30 pm, hoping to find a taxi in the way. I hadn't had the faintest idea that taxis won't be available in that way in Worcester. We need to make an appointment with them by calling them, so unknowingly, I started walking all the way, having known the route with the help of maps.google.com ans writing it on a paper, as have done before, when going to other places.
Then I walked and walked and walked and suddenly there is the Greendale Mall, which earlier appeared so far away, when we went in a car!!. So, I thought, oh! I got quite far, so I must be getting nearer. But, things are otherwise. It says go 2.7 mi! on Park Avenue to get Brooks St., but no where can I find a sign saying Brooks St. So, finally I stopped a biker who was coming in the other direction, and asked him about the Showcase Cinemas. He at first looked some what confused and then said it to be far. He gave me some directions and finally decided that he'll accompany me to there. I thought it to be good, as having some company is always better. He offered a cigarette, which I doubted from his looks, and anyways I declined. We tried to talk about some movies, etc. not knowing what to do. I thought of asking about what he does, but thought better not to, as he didn't seem to be doing a really good thing to be told about. Finally I found my Brooks St. so I said I can manage from that point, and the stranger set on his way again. So, I went through this Brooks St. to get to Mount Ave. another 0.3 mi, then came Eames Rd, which is a little different, in the sense, not like a normal road. Then I went to Higgins St. realising only when I finally left that st! Then came the Showcase Cinemas. But the time was already 7.45 pm. So, I bought a ticket for the 8.50 pm show. Being a Tuesday, they have a special offer that the tickets cost only 6 $ compared to the normal 10.75 $. But the story is yet to come. Having exhausted my H2O, I took cinnamon pretzels and Pepsi, a bottle being 4.5 $!!, which in India costs 20 Rs. Then to satisfy my 'Aatmaram' took a butter popcorn which is another 5 bucks. Then slowly time ran and the movie began. It was an ok movie and it finished at 10.30 pm. I called for a taxi to the Red Cab Service saying "I want a taxi for 36 John St' . The other person said 'OK' and that's all. He put the phone down. I started to wonder, how does he know about my location!! Thought maybe these guys have some method of tracking, though sounds a little weird, but still can be possible as everyone uses a GPS. Then not to take chances, called him again explaining the exact situation. Then he said 'aha!' and cut the line again. Finally the taxi came after 15-20 min. I asked the driver how much will it cost as I had 30 bucks with me. I said I'll draw money if required. He said it'll cost around 15, saying it would be ok if I want to spend more money as he can drive round the way! Then he told about Harrison Ford's movie 'Blade Runner' and Will Smith's previous movie 'I am a legend'. Finally the amount came to be 17 $! for the taxi. So much for the movie.
Anyway, it was a good experience overall.

Veg. sizzling Fajita Platter

Yesterday night we went to a Mexican Restaurant, Tortilla Sams, which is conveniently located near our house.
We, having no idea about any of those Mexican dishes, had a priori understanding of what to eat there. Still, browsed through the menus to satisfy our curiosity, and finally ordered the same.
It had vegetables, onions, etc. etc. ( I frankly don't know), and butter. They gave three roti like things, into which we put all these and made rolls.
They were really good, and satisfy one's hunger for the night and the next morning also :)
One curious thing about the restaurant is that it has only one waitress!!. We asked her how she is managing to serve people, and she said 'with a smile'!

six flags

Today I went to six flags located near Springfield, MA. Though the cost of the trip is pretty high, it is worth spending.
They have different roller coasters like Batman, Superman, Mind Eraser, Scream, and many more things, yeah, cat woman's whip also( I think they are all based on DC comics probably to attract children). Superman is amazing. Initially they take us to 170 feet height and then there is this sudden fall of 200 ft followed by 2-3 ups and downs, then some twists and turns and then comes the most amazing thing of passing through the tunnel. The tunnel is sprayed with water( donno why, maybe to simulate Superman's home) and it is really mind blowing to enter the tunnel at such high speeds( the max. speed is 73 mph!!).

Batman and Mind Eraser are equally good but definitely Superman is better.
Then they have the "Scream" where one is taken to a height of 200 ft at a speed of 55 mph! Then brought back at the same speed, though there are oscillations, where one goes up and down again and again until finally settled down.
The trip is real fun.
